Entry to April event part 3! [Evolution confirmation]

Kimchi always had a fear of fire. He would never admit it, but it'd be evident when he'd go out of his way to avoid or be extra spiteful towards fire-type Pokemon. By nature they were destructive, hot-headed and hard to control. Throughout his time in the Pixel World, Kimchi treated his teammate Marga the Chimchar exactly like this, constant dirty looks, stinging and aggressive behaviour, anything to get that monkey away from him. Everyone would shrug it off as part of the Weedle's stingy personality but truth be told, seeing the flames that come out of fire-types reminds him of his old home that doesn't exist anymore.

Right now, in a world surrounded by darkness, Kimchi stood back from the others and watched as the others fought the Virus Rotom, including Eli who was right in the thick of battle trying to talk the traitorous Rotom out of what it was doing. As a Weedle, Kimchi was useless. All he knew was Poison Sting which was useless against their opponent who also had a poison typing, fair enough, the Weedle would think, I didn't want to fight next to that fire monkey anyway.

Marga tried surrounding the Virus Rotom with a Fire Spin, but the attack proved too weak and the Rotom gave a mighty sweep with its tentacles which extinguished the small flames. Sugarbush, too, tried to help by lunging at the intimidating enemy and clamping down with a Bug Bite. All their attacks, too weak. The Rotom flung the Scatterbug away with a Poison Jab and went back to focusing its efforts at Marga and Eli who continued to dodge its swinging appendages.

Kimchi rushed to Sugarbush's side, her once beautiful fur now matted and torn. She was hit hard and poisoned, but instead of sapping away health, the black poison seemed to spread and disintegrate her little by little into black pixels. Panic spread across the Weedle's eyes, he couldn't do anything to help. Despite being in pain, the Scatterbug looked up in him and smiled, tell him it was alright. Unable to do nothing but watched, Kimchi's insecurities and hopelessness surrounded him into a Kakuna shell. Instead of funnelling his emotions into anger, his negativity consumed him and filled him with dread. He wished to be anyplace but here.

His thoughts drifted to his old home, a wondrous bug community spanning several species and many generations. Before being found by their trainers, both Kimith and he were just small Weedles in a large city of wax and honey. Run by a Queen Vespiquen with her Royal Guard of Beedrills, Kimchi remembered one Beedrill warrior who would pass on lessons and knowledge to him, to protect ones home was the greatest honour and real courage was standing up to death face-to-face. Even when their home was torn down by fire and lighting, those Beedrills laid down their lives so the others could escape.

[CUE INSPIRATION MUSIC]

He blinked awake again, reality coming back in the sounds of fallen comrades. He looked towards Eli and Marga and saw them struck down with that same black poison that was weakening Sugarbush. His thoughts were focused on them now and he realised it was his turn to fight for his new home. Breaking apart the shell, he bypassed his evolution line and evolved into a Beedrill/Flareon! Channelling his anger, his body was overheating with this new affinity of the type he used to fear so much. He called out to Marga to get up and fight again, the Chimchar stood up, still with fighting spirit ignited in him - just like a true fire type.

Together they joined their attacks and charged with their strongest infernos at the Virus Rotom, a Fire Wheel from Marga and a Flare Blitz from Kimchi, both determined to bring that traitor burning into the ground.

Marga the Chimchar silhouette gains 10 levels (silhouette +1, simple background +1, event bonus +2, trainer bonus +2, ~200 words +2, attack bonus +2) and learns Fire Spin and Flame Wheel!
