Entry for 2017 July Event - Part 1 _{I never want to draw a full comic page ever again}

Put in way too much effort into this x'D I don't think I'll be able to dish out something so detailed in the near future. My first full comic book page though! The story will continue for the next part (hopefully I can still do more comic pages). I added the written part at the bottom here (for those who like to read) which goes into the characters with more detail. Here's a link to Eli's full outfit and this is an extra part of Eli vising Weaton.

---STORY---

As Eli come back from his daily messenger duties, he was surprised to see a package at the base of his treehouse. Bringing it up with him he sat it on top of his bed and opened up the letter addressed to him.

"Uhhh..." He found the letter hard to read. The skills for reading and writing wasn't so prevalent anymore since the events of the Eclipse, and usually Eli got by with some basic understanding thanks to the others teaching him but it was especially rare to see cursive writing around so it just looked like a bunch of scribbles to him.

"Hey Vert, could you help read this?" He called out, using his other hand to start opening the box.

The Program Rotom drifted out from the shadows, feeling uplifted to be of assistance. It wasn't often he was asked to translate things, even though he's perfectly capable of even converting Pokemon speech. He scanned the letter, "Greetings. It is again I, the Marquise Julietta Alexa Horncastle, inviting you back into my humble mansion. This time I will be hosting the most excellent summer masquerade ball! I have read about them in old books and they sound wonderfully mysterious~"

Eli groaned, "She likes to be fancy, you can just give me the main points Vert".

Vert nodded, "Basically you've been invited to a formal event, masks compulsory. They'll be employing psychic types to make sure you can't recognise anyone to keep it mysterious."

Eli picked up one of the masks and looked at it with unease. Vert continued, "The Marquise has also added that you have lovely eyes and should wear the mask with pride. Also free food."

"No one's seen my eyes and lived to tell the tale..." Eli grumbled, but perked up when he thought about all the fancy foods that might be there.

Two ghost Pokemon were already rummaging through the box excitedly, Orchid already claiming a small tiara she found. Eli picked up a few clothes that the Phione tossed aside whlie Aster the Drifloon refolded them to keep it tidy. Despite being one of Orchid's many hookups, the two made a cute couple.

"There's some extra outfits in here Vert, did you want to-"

"No." Vert replied all too quickly. It's been the fifth time he's declined an invitation to leave the treehouse, but with the events of the arcade haunting him he still doesn't feel ready to face other humans, "Sorry... Sorry not today. Please pick someone else who might benefit in my place..."

"That's alright, maybe next time." Eli replied softly, willing to give the Rotom all the time it needs. He starting thinking about what Vert just said, "Someone else who might benefit from going, huh?" He went through a mental checklist of his Pokemon, "Who'd be so anti-social... someone who started off with the wrong foot... who needs a chance to really open up and maybe make some friends?"

Nearby there was a yelp, Sundew the Tangela began frantically trying to stop a sudden fire erupting within Eli's forest. The Tangela had no idea how these small fires suddenly appeared but used its vines to slam them down, simmering them out fast so they couldn't spread. He sighed with a breath of relief, only for an ember from somewhere to suddenly ball up on his head, he could hear malicious laughter from the bushes and instantly knew who'd pull such dangerous pranks and put the entire forest at risk.

Luckily, Mia was visiting the area and offered her help. She water gunned the Tangela's head and the surrounding grass that some fire sparks fell onto. Sundew was thankful, but also fed up with the fires that have been happening all month and called out, "Go away Hellebore, enough of your evil ways. Your a nuisance to all the Pokemon in the ranch!"

Hellebore left the scene, his smirk replaced with a tired scowl. He followed the dark shadows casted by the low bushes, avoiding areas where other Pokemon may find him. He knew no one would welcome him, and those that would try were just naive braindead fools. He thought about who to annoy next for the next couple of days, perhaps there was a new Pokemon that Eli might have brought back from the last trail-

"Perfect, just the mon I was looking for."

Hellebore stopped dead in his tracks and looked up to see Eli peering down at him with a thoughtful look. Eli was looking for him? Hellebore pushed aside any hope for positive attention and stared back at Eli with his usual unhappy look. Eli's the only reason he's still hanging around this place, but he's forced to listen to the trainer seeing as his stronger Pokemon can be... very persuasive.

Aster gave a nervous wave to Hellebore, he knew the balloon Pokemon was one of Eli's friendliest but the Drifloon hasn't forgotten the week of will-o-wisp burns Hellebore cursed him with when he first tried greeting him. On the other side of Eli was Orchid, the pretty little thing that could get away with their stuck up attitude because everyone was charmed by her. She looked away with a grossed look after seeing the Hoopa and he glowered.

"Your coming with me to the mask-ball-thing," Eli said completely forgetting the proper word, "It's a formal event so we all have to get dressed up." The human turned to the direction of their house and gestured the Hoopa to follow him. Hellebore bit his tongue and obeyed, Eli was the only reason why he hasn't been violently kicked out by the others and to oppose him means a visit from his stronger Pokemon. The Hoopa can only hope that whatever was in store for them wasn't so bad.
